Returning to work after caring for family

I stepped out for 8 months to care for a family member and now want to return. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I am unsure how to describe the break. Are there returnship programmes?

I began with part-time temp work, which helped me get back into the rhythm.
