References when my manager was laid off too - first time posting

The company closed and I am not sure how to reach former colleagues. It has been weighing on me all week. A colleague offered to vouch for me. How do you ask politely?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

A client reference worked well for me. It shows you deliver outside the company too.
