References when my manager was laid off too - first time posting

My manager was laid off too and I am unsure who to use as a reference. There are 7 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. A colleague offered to vouch for me. Who did you use?

Use a professional network to find a former manager. Many will still write a note.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
