References when my manager was laid off too, call-centre agent here

My manager was laid off too and I am unsure who to use as a reference. I am in Boston, in case local advice matters. I have one former client who liked my work. Who did you use?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

I kept a note of my results so my references could be specific. They appreciated it.
