References when my manager was laid off too (Buffalo)

Dahlia Thorne · 2026-06-11T20:25:26.295Z

I worry a reference will only confirm dates of employment. I am in Buffalo, in case local advice matters. A colleague offered to vouch for me. Is a client acceptable?

A client reference worked well for me. It shows you deliver outside the company too.
