References when my manager was laid off too - any advice?

Gabriel Laurent · 2026-06-22T01:07:42.773Z

I worry a reference will only confirm dates of employment. There are 15 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have one former client who liked my work. Is a client acceptable?

A client reference worked well for me. It shows you deliver outside the company too.
