References when my manager was laid off too after 16 years as a marketing coordinator

I worry a reference will only confirm dates of employment. This is my first time dealing with any of this. A colleague offered to vouch for me.

I kept a note of my results so my references could be specific. They appreciated it.

A client reference worked well for me. It shows you deliver outside the company too.
