References when my manager was laid off too - 2 weeks in

Amara Petrov · 2026-07-06T22:38:14.572Z

My manager was laid off too and I am unsure who to use as a reference. There are 18 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have one former client who liked my work. How do you ask politely?

A client reference worked well for me. It shows you deliver outside the company too.
