References when my manager was laid off too - 12 weeks in

Jae Bergstrom · 2026-08-10T23:13:04.347Z

I worry a reference will only confirm dates of employment. It has been a long 12 weeks. HR only confirms titles and dates. How do you ask politely?

I kept a note of my results so my references could be specific. They appreciated it.
