References when my manager was laid off too

Avery Okafor · 2026-09-20T22:27:39.904Z

I worry a reference will only confirm dates of employment. There are 11 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. A colleague offered to vouch for me. Is a client acceptable?

A client reference worked well for me. It shows you deliver outside the company too.
