Preparing for my first interview in 7 months - what worked for you?

It has been 7 months since my last interview and I feel rusty. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I want to come across as confident and honest. How do you prepare answers?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
