Pivoting from teaching assistant to something new - any advice?

After 4 years as a teaching assistant I am thinking about moving into a different field. There are 4 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. Has anyone made a similar move?

I began with informational chats, then a short online course, then a related entry-level role. It took about 10 months.
