Pivoting from software tester to something new - what worked for you?

My layoff made me rethink whether to stay in my field. It has been a long 18 weeks. I have a little time and a small budget for training. Has anyone made a similar move?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 7 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
