Pivoting from marketing coordinator to something new - what worked for you?

I want to move from marketing coordinator to something with more stability. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have a little time and a small budget for training. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Try a small project in the new field before committing. It told me a lot about whether I would enjoy it.
