Pivoting from line cook to something new - what worked for you?

After 17 years as a line cook I am thinking about moving into a different field. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. Has anyone made a similar move?

You likely have more transferable skills than you think. Write down what you did, not what the job title said.

Try a small project in the new field before committing. It told me a lot about whether I would enjoy it.
