Pivoting from graphic designer to something new (Tucson)

After 17 years as a graphic designer I am thinking about moving into a different field. Any experience at all would help. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
