Pivoting from forklift operator to something new - what worked for you?

I want to move from forklift operator to something with more stability. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. Has anyone made a similar move?

I took a small pay cut for a year, and it was worth it for the growth afterwards.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
