Pivoting from event coordinator to something new - any advice?

After 4 years as an event coordinator I am thinking about moving into a different field. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
