Pivoting from bookkeeper to something new (update)

I want to move from bookkeeper to something with more stability. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. My family is supportive but nervous. Has anyone made a similar move?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
