Pivoting from accounts payable clerk to something new - 7 months and counting

My layoff made me rethink whether to stay in my field. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I have good customer skills and I am comfortable with spreadsheets. How did you start?

Try a small project in the new field before committing. It told me a lot about whether I would enjoy it.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
