It is the first offer in 14 months and I do not want to mess it up. This is my first time dealing with any of this. The benefits are decent. Did it backfire?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
