Offer arrived, can I still ask for more? - any advice?

I received an offer as a teaching assistant and I think the pay is a little low. I worked as a teaching assistant before this. The hiring manager was friendly and open. Did it backfire?

If they say no, consider asking for something else, such as a review in six months.
