Offer arrived, can I still ask for more? after 17 years as a recruiter

It is the first offer in 11 months and I do not want to mess it up. There are 17 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The hiring manager was friendly and open. Did you negotiate?

Most employers expect a short conversation. Mine did not even blink.

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
