Negotiating pay when I have been out of work, school bus driver here

Fatima Lindberg · 2026-08-10T06:04:33.581Z

A recruiter asked for my salary expectations on a first call as I look for work as a school bus driver. It has been weighing on me all week. I also do not want to sell myself short.

Benefits matter too. A slightly lower rate with better coverage was better for me.
