Negotiating an offer, is it too late? (update)

I received an offer as a line cook and I think the pay is a little low. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The benefits are decent. Did you negotiate?

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
