Negotiating an offer, is it too late? (update)

I received an offer as an IT help-desk technician and I think the pay is a little low. The hiring manager was friendly and open. Did it backfire?

If they say no, consider asking for something else, such as a review in six months.

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
