Negotiating an offer, is it too late? (Toledo)

I received an offer as an HR coordinator and I think the pay is a little low. I am in Toledo, in case local advice matters. The hiring manager was friendly and open. Did it backfire?

Most employers expect a short conversation. Mine did not even blink.

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
