Negotiating an offer, is it too late?, security officer here

It is the first offer in 3 months and I do not want to mess it up. There are 16 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The hiring manager was friendly and open. What wording worked?

If they say no, consider asking for something else, such as a review in six months.

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
