Negotiating an offer, is it too late? (Seattle)

I received an offer as a social media manager and I think the pay is a little low. I am in Seattle, in case local advice matters. The hiring manager was friendly and open. What wording worked?

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
