Negotiating an offer, is it too late?, mechanic here

I received an offer as a mechanic and I think the pay is a little low. The hiring manager was friendly and open. Did it backfire?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
