Negotiating an offer, is it too late? - any advice?

I want to negotiate but I am afraid they will withdraw. It has been a long 4 weeks. The hiring manager was friendly and open. What wording worked?

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.

Most employers expect a short conversation. Mine did not even blink.
