Negotiating an offer, is it too late? after 7 years as a data-entry clerk

I want to negotiate but I am afraid they will withdraw. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The hiring manager was friendly and open. What wording worked?

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
