Negotiating an offer, is it too late? after 4 years as a paralegal

I received an offer as a paralegal and I think the pay is a little low. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The benefits are decent. Did it backfire?

Most employers expect a short conversation. Mine did not even blink.
