Negotiating an offer, is it too late? after 3 years as a security officer

I received an offer as a security officer and I think the pay is a little low. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The hiring manager was friendly and open. Did it backfire?

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.

Most employers expect a short conversation. Mine did not even blink.
