Interview nerves, what actually helps? after 11 years as a mechanic

It has been 11 months since my last interview and I feel rusty. I worked as a mechanic before this. I have practised answers but they sound stiff. How do you prepare answers?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
