How much room is there after an offer? (update)

I received an offer as a hotel front-desk agent and I think the pay is a little low. I am in Cincinnati, in case local advice matters. The hiring manager was friendly and open. What wording worked?

Ask about the range, not a number on its own. It felt more collaborative.
