How much room is there after an offer? (update)

I received an offer as an IT help-desk technician and I think the pay is a little low. I have a competing interview next week. Did you negotiate?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 3 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
