How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - what worked for you?

I have been out of work for 10 months and worry about the gap. Any experience at all would help. I am not sure how much to explain. Did anyone get past it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
