How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - first time posting

I have been out of work for 12 months and worry about the gap. I worked as a quality inspector before this. I am nervous about being filtered out. Did anyone get past it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
