How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - first time posting

My résumé shows a gap from a layoff and some health issues. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I am nervous about being filtered out. Did anyone get past it?

I was hired after a 4-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
