How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - first time posting

I have been out of work for 7 months and worry about the gap. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I am nervous about being filtered out. What do you say in interviews?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
