How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - any advice?

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a security officer. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I am nervous about being filtered out. Did anyone get past it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
