How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? after 17 years as a hotel front-desk agent

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a hotel front-desk agent. I am in Seattle, in case local advice matters. I am not sure how much to explain. How did you handle it on your résumé?

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.

I was hired after a 13-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.
