How do I handle a long gap on my résumé?

My résumé shows a gap from a layoff and some health issues. Thank you in advance. I am not sure how much to explain.

I was hired after a 2-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
