How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - 4 months and counting

I took time out to care for a family member after working as a paralegal. Any experience at all would help. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. Did anyone get past it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
