How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - 2 months and counting

I have been out of work for 2 months and worry about the gap. I worked as a welding apprentice before this. I am not sure how much to explain. How did you handle it on your résumé?

I was hired after a 2-month gap. The manager said the skills test mattered more than the dates.

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.
