How do I handle a long gap on my résumé? - 16 weeks in

I took time out to care for a family member after working as an electrician's helper. I worked as an electrician's helper before this. I have done some volunteering and a course during that time. Did anyone get past it?

A short, honest line such as 'family caregiving' is enough for most employers. They mostly want to know you are ready now.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
