How do I ask for an informational chat? - what worked for you?

I sent 16 messages on a professional network and got two replies. I worked as a customer-service rep before this. I worry about bothering people. How do you phrase the request?

Follow up with a thank-you and a short update. One of my chats led to a referral a month later.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
