Going back after 12 months at home (update)

I stepped out for 12 months to care for a family member and now want to return. I worked as a bookkeeper before this. I am unsure how to describe the break. What helped?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
