Getting references after a company closes - 4 months and counting

I worry a reference will only confirm dates of employment. I worked as a welding apprentice before this. I have one former client who liked my work. Is a client acceptable?

I kept a note of my results so my references could be specific. They appreciated it.

Use a professional network to find a former manager. Many will still write a note.
